Instructions for using SAM 2007Assessment and Training

We currently use SAM 2007 Assessment and Training (Version 2.0) at this institution. The SAM 2007 Content Player, Microsoft .NET 3.0 and Course Assess  must be installed in order to take tests.  Additionally, you must be running Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, as well as the latest version of Flash Player, if you are using the training component in SAM. 

The current version of SAM, and other required software, is already installed and available for use in our on campus computer labs, but you will need to install it at home.  (If you have an older version of SAM loaded on your home computer, you must uninstall it and install the current version, which comes in your book bundle, or you can purchase it separately at the bookstore).

For free copies of these programs to install at home, please visit the SAM 2007 site or the following URLs (make sure you are running the latest version; you may have to uninstall the old and replace with the new):

  1. The first time you ever log into SAM 2007:

  2. Go to the SAM 2007 website: http://sam2007.course.com.  (or click on the SAM 2007 icon located on your desktop if you’ve already installed the content player above))

  3. Click on the “New User” button.

  4. Please enter  SCC’s institution code:  V7246694.

  5. Enter your SAM 2007 key code (found once you open your SAM 2007 software package).

  6. Fill in the appropriate information for your “Profile”.  For example:

Usernames and Passwords should be the same as your MYSCC or ANGEL accounts to make it easier to remember. Please be sure to write down the username & password you select! If you forget either, call tech support or use the "forgot password" link on the login page.

  1. Click the “Save” button.

  2. Click the “Confirm” button

  3. When prompted for agreement to the license conditions, click on the “I agree” button.

  4. You now need to join a section. 

  1. Please click on the “Section” button on the left hand side navigation bar to the left of your screen.
  2. Then click on the “Join Section” button on the right. 
  3. From the candidate list of available classes on the left, choose your class by selecting your class section and an appropriate practice section (if applicable; follow instructor guidelines)
  4. Click the right arrow.
  5. Click the “Save” button to save your selection.
  1. To take first practice assessment or training please click on “SAM Assignments” button on the left navigation bar.

  2. Select the link for the appropriate practice test or training.

  3. You will be provided with instructions about the assessment or training, please read these instructions then click the “OK” button.

  4. The assessment or training will begin!

  5. When finished click the “Close” button after seeing your results have been recorded to the server.

When done working in SAM, click on the “LOGOUT” button to exit the software; do not click on the windows "close" button.

 Miscellaneous Notes:

You are given (X) amount of chances to complete the question correctly during a real test.

You are allowed to perform steps using different methods.

If you are asked if you want to terminate a previous session (error message), that just means you didn’t exit correctly when you were on before. Just click OK to reset yourself and log back in.

Be sure to use proper spelling and capitalization in SAM !
