APA Notes/Guidelines
(for Word Chapter 2, Case 2)
Double space ALL pages, removing extra spacing between paragraphs; 1 inch margins on all sides, just like MLA set up. Insert page breaks between pages, DO NOT press enter a hundred times to get to the next page..:).
Create a header that consists of a short title, five spaces, and the current page number (this # will be inserted and change automatically on each page).
Create a separate Title page in front of your report with the information below centered on the page (Running Head is optional):
|
Full title of essay | |
|
Author’s name (USE your name here instead of Alex Papas)
|
Course Name and Instructor (ie: CGS2100 – Keeter)
|
Current Date |
Include an abstract (short overview of paper – 1 paragraph left aligned) on the second page, after title page, with the word “Abstract” centered at the top of this page.
Repeat the full title, centered, on the third page of the paper (header should still be in the top right corner with short title and page number). No course or student information will be on this page, like in MLA, since you now have a title page with this information.
Copy the footnote text from the MLA document and paste it next to the referenced paragraph within the document, then delete the footnote marker from the paragraph so it deletes the number and note below. Some sites show footnotes converted to endnotes if you would prefer to do this instead, but make sure your endnote page appears before your References/Bibliography page which should be the last page of your paper.
Change the MLA Works Cited page title to References or Bibliography. Make sure the title text (Bibliography or References) is Calibri 11 to match the rest of the document. Convert the references from MLA to APA format. This can be done automatically using Word 2007 features in the References tab or you can type in these changes yourself. You may find some differences in how these should be done online (conversion may not be “perfect” in Word 2007), but will be acceptable either way. Your references should be formatted as hanging indent, just like works cited.
