Road Signs

A sign formerly along the Florida Turnpike SB just south of Ocoee

Look at all the "Perfect Squares"!!!

The sign was removed due to construction along the Turnpike.  All I have left is this picture!!

Notice my white Buick in the background!  The car was later stolen (twice!!) from my own driveway!

Now, the sign and the car are both gone!  So sad!!

A "math road sign" is any permanent highway road sign

for which, you can use ALL

of  the numbers on the sign and standard math operations to write a true equation.

Here are a couple of VERY simple examples (for ordinary folks!) in which the equation is obvious.

(Some of the signs that have been identified as math road signs are really bizarre!!)

Near the  Florida Turnpike Exit at Wildwood

SB US 441 in Tennessee south of Gatlinburg

SB I-75 in Florida south of Ft. Myers

SB SR44 in downtown Eustis, Florida

EB SR 436 crossing Interstate 4 in Altamonte Springs, Florida

Yes, this is a Math Road Sign.  Can you see the equation?

By the way, a few rules have been established for road sign math.

First, any road sign that has one or more fractions is not considered a legal road sign.

Secondly, trigonometry and logarithm functions  do not apply.

Next time you are out driving around, see if you can find some Road Sign Math!!
