2.        The number of bacteria is a culture "t" minutes after the start of an experiment is given by the formula

            a)  Find the initial population.

            b)  Find the population after 1 hour.

            c)  How long will it take the population to double?

Solution:

a)         The initial population is the population when t=0.  In other words, find

b)         Since the population of bacteria is measured over time interval given in minutes, the first step is to realize that 1 hour means t=60 minutes.

c)         How long will it take the population to double?

Let B(t) = Twice the initial population

                     =  2 B(0), where

            .   You must solve for t !
