COURSE ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION
Specific instructions on all assignments will be given in class. We will also be using ANGEL as a supplement to on campus activities.
Reading Assignments
You will be responsible for reading and working through each page of the textbook for the assigned Chapters.
Study & Learn
These activities will be available in CenagageNOW. They consist of a Pre-Test, personalized Study Plan, and Post-Test. Only the score from the Post-Test will count towards your grade. Completing all parts of the Study & Learn tools will help you master the material in each chapter. These assignments will be worth 10 points each.
Homework
These activities will be available in CenagageNOW. They consist of a set of homework problems that reinforce the chapter material. These assignments will be worth 20 points each.
Quizzes
A quiz consisting of 15 Multiple Choice and True False questions will be given in ANGEL for each chapter. You may take each quiz up to 3 times. The questions on each quiz attempt will vary. Quizzes will be worth 15 points and your highest score will count. Taking the quizzes all 3 times will help you prepare for the exams.
Exams will consist of two parts: Multiple Choice / True False questions in ANGEL and interactive problems in CengageNOW. Exams will be administered according to the dates on your Schedule. No Exam may be taken late unless arrangements have been made with your instructor prior to the scheduled exam date. Failure to take the exam by the assigned deadline will result in a grade of zero. Each Exam will be worth 100 points.
Simulation Project
Students will be completing a manual simulation project that involves journalizing and posting transactions such as sales receipts, invoices, customer payments, bills, bill payments, checks and journal entries. This project will allow you to apply everything you have learned throughout the semester in a "real world" scenario. The simulation project is worth 100 points and must be submitted by the due date listed on the Weekly Task Calendar. No late work will be accepted.
QuickBooks Exercises
To introduce students to computerized accounting software, practice activities in QuickBooks Pro 2008 will be given. Students will be given in class time to complete assignments. Any assignments not completed in class may be finished in any of the on campus labs so students do NOT have to purchase the QuickBooks software. After completing several practice company assignments, the simulation project that was completed using the manual method of accounting will be entered in QuickBooks.
DUE DATES / LATE WORK / EXTRA CREDIT
Activities in each chapter should be completed by the due dates listed on the Schedule. Completing your work on time will help ensure your success in this course!
All Chapter Activities will be accepted up until the end of the Exam dates with a 10% penalty. Once the Exam that covers a chapter is over, no late work will be accepted. Exams, the simulation project, and QuickBooks exercises will NOT be accepted late. Check the Schedule for late deadlines for all assignments. Failure to submit work by the late deadline will result in a grade of zero.
Extra credit may be announced periodically in ANGEL throughout the semester.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance is very important in order for you to be successful in this class. Handouts, instructions, and introductions to each new application are vital to your success in the course. Arriving to class on time is also essential to your understanding instructions and introductions offered by the instructor. The student is solely responsible for anything missed due to absences or tardiness.
School policy indicates that any student who is absent from class ten percent of the time may be dropped without warning. If you decide not to continue with the course, you must withdraw from the course by the official date listed in the Seminole State catalog to avoid receiving a grade of "F." If you are receiving financial aid, this can affect your funds for the next semester. You must enroll as an Audit student at the time of registration to receive an audit grade.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
You are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic honesty and integrity while in this course and as a student at Seminole State College. You may not allow another student to use your work. You may not work with another student on your assignments to the extent that you replicate each other's work. You may not obtain copies of prior semester's work or exams from previous students for your own use. If you submit work which is not completed by you or allow another student to submit your work, a failing grade will be given and I will pursue all academic sanctions available as listed in the Seminole State Student Handbook including dismissal from the college. If you have any questions about the college's code of academic conduct, please consult the Seminole State Student Handbook.
If you encounter any difficulties at all or if you are considering withdrawing from the course for any reason, please contact your instructor without delay. The instructor may have suggestions that will allow you to successfully complete the course. Students may withdraw themselves from any course without academic penalty up until the deadline set by the college. Once the deadline for withdrawing has passed, the instructor can not withdraw a student. Students who do not submit their assignments on time and who do not officially withdraw from the course will receive a failing grade.
