Word Project 1 Introduction

1.     In Word Project 1 you will create a flyer for Tri-Valley Stables.  The end result of the project is displayed in Figure 1-1. Do not begin working on this finished flyer. Instead work through the steps in the chapter. There are important skills you will develop in the chapter that will be required when you do the exercises at the end of the chapter.

2.     Many of the projects in the Word book require the use of “student files”. These are pictures or incomplete documents provided to you. You can download the student files by following the instructions inside the back cover of your book or click the appropriate link at the class web site (www2.scc-fl.edu/dgrant).  Write down the name of the file you download and the drive/folder where you save it. These files are in a “self-extracting zip” format. See the attached instructions for information on “extracting” the files. You will not be able to use the files until you extract them.

3.     You will need a removable storage device for the Word projects. It is unlikely you will complete an entire project in one class. This means you will need to save your work so you can resume later.

4.     You will not use the Print Screen to print your Word documents! Instead follow the directions in the project for printing.

5.     You are instructed to save the flyer for Tri-Valley Stables using the name Horseback Riding Lessons Flyer.  This occurs on page WD 20. Use that name for your file if you don’t reach page WD 20 before the end of class.
