SAM Practice Tests

Extra Credit

You will take four exams in this course:

  1. Discovering Computers Chapters 1 – 4
  2. Microsoft Windows
  3. Microsoft Word
  4. Discovering Computers Chapters 5 – 8.

You can earn a maximum of 40 extra credit points by taking twenty SAM practice tests.  You must meet the following criteria.

  1. Print the exam results1 report from SAM and submit it at the time of the exam for that topic.  For example, take practice tests for Discovering Computers 1 – 4 and submit the exam results report on the day of the exam before the end of the class period for Discovering Computers 1 – 4. 

  2. You cannot submit practice tests for extra credit once the deadline for the exam has passed.  For example, you can submit practice tests for Discovering Computers 1 – 4 until the day on which the exam is scheduled.

  3. You must “pass” the practice test with a minimum score of 70% to qualify for extra credit.

  4. You will earn 2 points for each practice test you “pass” in that category. 

  5. You may earn a maximum of 10 extra credit points for each category.  That is you can earn 10 extra credit points for passing 5 practice tests from Discovering Computers chapters 1 – 4.  You can earn an additional 10 extra credit points for passing 5 practice tests from Microsoft Windows.  You can earn an additional 10 extra credit points for passing 5 practice tests from Microsoft Word.  You can earn an additional 10 extra credit points for passing 5 practice tests from Discovery Computers Chapters 5 – 8.

  6. For Discovering Computers chapters 1 – 4, you must have at least one practice test from each chapter. The fifth practice test can be from any chapter. For Discovering Computers chapters 5 – 8, you must have at least one practice test from each chapter. The fifth practice test can be from any chapter. For Microsoft Windows, you must have at least one practice test from each project (Win Project 1 – Win Project 3).  The other 2 practice tests may be from any Windows project (1, 2, or 3). For Microsoft Word, you must have at least one practice test from each project (Word 1 – Word 3).  The other 2 practice tests may be from any Word project (1, 2, or 3).

  7. You may submit a maximum of two practice tests for the same chapter for extra credit. For example, if you finished three practice exams for Chapter 1 and all three were above 70%, you may only submit two of those.

1 Do the following in SAM to print the exam results report.

  1. Select "Reports" from the SAM menu on the left.
  2. Click the specific practice test you want to submit for extra credit from under the "Assignments" column.
  3. Select "Study Guide" for the "Report Type”.
  4. Click the “Create Report” button in the upper right portion of the page.
  5. This will print several pages. You only need to submit the first page as it has your score.
  6. Repeat this process for each practice test you want to submit for extra credit.
