You will need to create an account to complete your Learn It Online exercises. Follow these steps to create the account.
1. Start your web browser and go to http://login.course.com. The login screen below will be displayed.
2. Click the New User Registration link. The "Choose Your Product" page shown below will be displayed. Click the box to the left of "Discovering Computers 2008 Companion Web Site" .
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button. The "New User Registration" form shown below will be displayed. Fill in the blanks on this form. Try to use the same username and password you use to log into the SCC network. If the username is taken use your email address for the username.
4. Click the Continue button. The "Registration Successful" page shown below will be displayed. If this page is not displayed it is likely you had an error. Look for the error message(s) and correct each one.
5. Click the Continue button at the bottom of the form. The "Welcome" page shown below will be displayed. Notice the links across the top (My Account, Gradebook, About CoursePort, Support, and Logout).
6. Click the "Discovering Computers 2008 Companion Web Site" link. The "Table of Contents" page shown below will be displayed.
7. Click the link for Chapter 1 "Introduction to Computers". The Chapter 1 Overview page will be displayed. Part of that page is displayed below.
7. Note the links to the right of "Select a Chapter" at the top of the page. Click any number to go to that chapter's equivalent page. Click the Learn It Online link on the left. A page matching the Learn It Online page in your text book will be displayed. Click the circled number to begin that exercise.
8. You only need to create an account once. In the future go to the web site listed in the text book at the end of each chapter in the Learn It Online section. This web site will be scsite.com/dc2008/ch1/learn. The only thing that will change is the ch1. For chapter 2 use ch2 and so on. You will be asked to log in. Enter your username and password. The Learn It Online page for that chapter will be displayed.
9. These exercises can be accessed from any web browser (home, work, campus, ...). If you forget your username or password, go to the log in screen and click the link titled "Forgot your username or password?". Follow the directions on that page.
